About Mountainwest Hotels
MountainWest is an innovative hotel brokerage founded by Wylie Elson and focused on selling hotels, both independent and franchise, in the Rocky Mountains of northern New Mexico and Colorado.
We believe that as a smaller firm serving a select few clients at any one time we provide greater focus, effort and client satisfaction than do larger, more impersonal firms. Our marketing efforts and expenditures per property equal or exceed what larger firms might bring to bear on selling your hotel and we cover all the same bases (and more) that the large firms do getting the message out to qualified, active buyers.
The Rocky Mountain region between Santa Fe and Glenwood Springs is primarily resort town, destination markets and this is our unique focus. Mountain town hotel buyers are generally not the same as hotel buyers of interstate or city locations. Because of this we have a tremendous, highly targeted database of buyers particularly interested in buying a hotel in the mountain resort town destination markets. And we know how to find more qualified people who want to buy a hotel in these unique markets. These are not your usual hotel buyers, and we can deliver them.

PRINCIPAL BROKER
As a hotel owner as well as a hotel broker, Wylie Elson has built his reputation on a history of success coupled with industry knowledge and experience, and unparalleled customer service - making sure that clients' needs always come first.

Wylie earned his MD from the University of New Mexico and his BS in Business Administration from the University of Vermont.
Prior to launching MountainWest hotel brokerage, Wylie held various positions including Account Executive for Hewlett-Packard in their Commercial Computing Division, Account Executive with New Science Associates (an AI consulting firm), Development Manager for the Lama Foundation (a 501(c)3 educational institution and retreat center) and house staff physician at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.
Currently, in addition to being the principal broker for MountainWest hotel brokers, Wylie acts on a consulting basis as the Western U.S. Mergers and Acquisitions Specialist for Merfeld & Schine, Inc. (
www.mergers-acquisitions.com) and is the Principal Broker/Founder of Business Brokers of Taos (
www.TaosBusinessBrokers.com).
Wylie understood the tremendous tax consequences of different sale structures. He negotiated a sale structure with the buyer that saved us hundreds of thousands of dollars in potential tax liability. This is one smart guy!
